| Not a lot needs to be put in here, really. The initial stages of the RP will be based in San Fransisco for a variety of reasons, but expansion and 'field-trips' elsewhere will start to show up. Whether a lifelong resident, a tourist from out-of-state or just someone passing through, you will be unpleasantly surprised one day (or night) by a vampire and rescued in the nick of time by a mysterious third party. From there, induction into the dark - and not wholly good - ranks of the Cabal will follow.
Just note down a few basics about your character, name and origin and so forth, and we can get down to business pretty much straight away. Do tell me if you want to begin in the company of other players though.

What? You need more? All right then...
Vampires are real. That is to say, vampires are real. Not just the ones you know of - or think you know of. There's a whole world out there and every bit of it that's ever been lived in by humans has had its own vampire stories. There's a good reason for that, as I said. They're real. Now, you may be wondering why I keep reiterating that fact.
It's because I'm trying desperately hard to get it into your head that thanks to culture barriers being broken down, increasing globalisation and racial discrimination being outlawed, everyone from all over the world is interacting with each other more than ever - and so are their own, unique vampires. This is a very bad thing, because it means we can no longer specialise in killing off one kind of these pseudo-parasitic apex predators, but need to worry about every single one.
We are the Cabals. We are the only organisations that actively seek out vampires to exterminate like the plague they are. Don't be concerned with the morality of it - biologically and psychologically, you are a prey animal to them. Sometimes they might get attached to you and vice versa. They may even feel sorry for killing you when the time comes...but eventually, they will eat you.
And like any prey animal capable of fighting back, we are doing so with every bit of force we can muster against them. Also a little bit of natural human savagery, because why stop at self-defense when you can just wipe out the entire threat permanently and make the future a safe place for your descendants? Answer: you shouldn't.
Our methods are extreme. Our methods are effective. You don't like it, you don't go beyond the grunt work. You try to fight it, we treat you the same as we treat the vampires. Only, you are a lot less durable than they are. Experience tells us it hurts more. So don't fight it. Accept that by saving you from that attack, albeit inadvertently, we have given you the opportunity to literally save your species, even if that means you're apt to end up doing a lot of really horrible things.
We're at war. We intend to win. So shut up, man up and suit up. Welcome to the Cabals, newbie.

And for a bit of a history lesson covering some of the more interesting bits, see below:
Excerpted from the archives of the Broken Fang Cabal
Great Rift Valley, pre-history Vampirism proven to have existed in proto-human groups. Exact nature of the affliction unknown, owing to obvious lack of records from said time and severe shortage of physical evidence.
Northern Africa and Asia Minor, ca.14,000 BCE Believed to be the founding of the Khunum vampire Dynasty (still extant, further information classified). First evidence of vampire speciation - pictograph analysis suggests initial offshoot spread to Indus and dominated early civilisation. Longevity is possible explanation of advanced architecture and infrastructure found throughout the extinct culture.
Central Europe, ca.11,000 BCE Signs of precursor to the vrikolaka and pricolici variants of vampire present. Longevity of wilderness area key to entrenchment of vampirism in the area - cf. Vlad Tepes III of Wallachia and inspiration of Stoker.
Alaska, ca.10,500 BCE Tentative dating of Subject Twenty-Two. Complete vampire of unknown type found frozen three miles below permafrost. Subject considered destroyed following inclusion in Trinity, 1945. Earliest evidence of vampirism in Americas.
Peru, ca.9,000-8,000 BCE Organic analysis of remains demonstrates humans arrived in region with a non-significant chronological differential to vampirism. Earliest evidence of vampires adopting Herd Strategy. Rapid growth of complex culture over subsequent millennium suggests these humans were not responsible for the future civilisations. Religion and blood sacrifices tentatively posited to have been manufactured by vampire masters.
China, ca.5,500 BCE Evidence of first successful attack on vampirism. Confirmed in interrogations of Subjects Beta-Four through Beta-Thirty-Nine. Haje Dynasty confirmed extinct following destruction of above subjects.
Japan, ca.4,000 BCE Tentative dating of the 'Eternal Blood Orgy'. If accurate to within three centuries, this would be the earliest case of genocide practiced by vampires, resulting in the total annihilation of the Inichi proto-civilisation. Slave humans brought in as replacements, but archeological evidence problematic and DNA analysis impossible.
France, ca.2,000 BCE Evidence of first Cabals. Disorganised mobs. Countless innocents lost. Vampires actively hunted for the very first time.
Asia Minor, ca.1,600 BCE Early Judaism is first religion to demonstrate consistent effectiveness of principles against vampiric affliction, cf. disparity of Hindu faiths causing monumental delay in similar progress; also cf. modern fracturing of religions resulting in popular resurgence of vampiric servitude.
Greece, ca.1,600 BCE Thera Eruption confirmed caused by Analecta Dynasty as warning against Judaism. Method likely to remain unknown - Dynasty confirmed extinct by Mycenean invasion two centuries later.
Scotland, ca.700 BCE Druidism contentiously demonstrated as having links to both vampire Dynasties and organised Cabals. A degree of spiritual civil warfare is usually posited.
Asia Minor, ca.20 CE Resurgence in Judaism cause for alarm in regional Cabals as fracturing of the faith seemed increasingly likely. Evidence suggests Cabals responsible for inciting discontent or discrediting more effective preachers in effort to force Roman crackdown. Notable failure if true, given Christianity's modern influence.
Siberia, ca.1,100 CE First true Cabal formed. Slavic experience with central European vampirism invaluable. Cabal influence negligible in the Orient - vampiric speciation too great at this point.
Great Britain, 1789 CE French Cabals succeed in overthrowing vampiric dominance, however survivors of the Revolution become entrenched in Britain and prove remarkably difficult to exterminate.
Sardinia, 1817 CE Napoleon Bonaparte finally hunted down and destroyed by Cabal. Bonaparte Dynasty confirmed extinct two months later when unnamed bride also destroyed when rendered vulnerable during child-birth. Progeny apparently stillborn when removed from womb, however incineration revealed otherwise.
South Africa, 1902 Civilian insurrectionists provoked by the Cabal of the Free Peoples ensure weakening of British military morality. Last escaped vampires of the French Revolution lured out by war crimes destroyed. Continued human life in area an unexpected bonus.
Germany, 1914 'Western Haemoclysm' confirmed initiated on vampire orders by the assassination of Archduke Ferdinand. Most European Cabals destroyed as an ultimate consequence.
Switzerland, 1945 Planting of sleeper agents within infant United Nations completed successfully. Information provided continues to be invaluable in seeking out targets for extermination.
Israel, 1949 Mossad formed despite repeated countermeasures. Planting of sleeper agents continues to be unsuccessful. Currently considered as a deactivated Cabal following an Alpha-Black scenario.
Australia, 1960 New strain of vampire identified among pregnant Aboriginals. Local Cabals attempt to reintroduce airborne prophylactic and bioweapon countermeasures to no avail. Emergency action undertaken by Cabal in Ceylon salvaged operation. Vampire strain eliminated, losses acceptable.
Falklands, 1982 First instance of sanctioned intercontinental Cabal cooperation. Distraction provided by Argentinian and British military posturing enabled extinction of entire Viola and Windsor Dynasties. Replacements were provided where necessary until disposal could be arranged, cf. Operations Last Tango in 1997 and Cedar Falls in 2002 (editor's note: evidently planned by the same individual, to go by the naming convention).
Canada, 1996 First Directors appointed, subject to all existing regulations. Cabals now globally unified. Efficiency levels increase 536% over the next year owing to superior coordination, exercises and security. Forty-seven Dynasties confirmed extinct by the millennial celebrations. Nine species confirmed Virtually Extinct.
America, 2001 Bombing of Twin Towers attributed to Al-Qaeda terrorist organisation. Evidence to the contrary suppressed in order to facilitate Cabal pursuit of senior vampires within said organisation. Actual bombers unknown, considered irrelevant.
Belgium, 2006 Vampire activity in parliament necessitates Cabal intervention, leading to political crisis the following year. First evidence presented to support theory of vampiric efforts at economic destabilisation. Interrogations intensified but inconclusive.
Norway, 2011 Confirmation of senior vampire presence encourages activation of class-B suicide agent. Subsequent investigation reveals successful extermination. Civilian losses below expected - disciplinary action taken for failure to provide minimum expected firepower.
America, 2012 Vampire masquerades reaching peak frequency, along with public attacks. Recruitment at an all-time high.

| Well this is interesting, I just don't feel that I know enough about it to know whether it's my kind of RP or not. >u<; And I don't reeeeally know how to go about making a character. Is it part of the RP's feel to have a short OP, or could you add a bit more info, if that's no trouble or anything? o: | |

| OK, done.
If anyone wants to know what some of the more subtle references (especially in the later history sections) are about, just ask.

I love the idea of the Cabal as creating dozens of crises over the centuries because they wanted to capture/kill more vampires. Just awesome.
