Well Amethyst was a girl who got turned into crystal and stained purple. I can see her coming back as someone covered in jewels...

Well Dionysus, the dude who was an alcoholic and loved partying, got some ideas in his head about Amethyst, so she pleaded to Diana to save her. She turned her into a crystal, Dionysus got upset over that and cried wine which made her purple.

Small myth, but I think it's cool.
