| Oh boy I looove Steven Universe ;u; It just had a few amazing episodes this week! It's a show about a boy named Steven who lives with three superpowered heroes called the Crystal Gems, and through all their adventures combating these weird alien forces, a dreadful backplot is revealed - like what happened to Steven's mom, and what the Crystal Gems really are. I won't say any more though. >u< But the show has amazing music and great characters! It's Rebecca Sugar's creation, she used to be on the Adventure Time team. Here's a poster from the pilot, with the Gems' beta designs!

The Author is apparently Dipper and Mabel's grandfather; given the evident importance of astrology and the Behenian Fixed Stars to the universe portal, Dipper's birthmark can't be a coincidence. Especially when the portal bears the symbol of one of the stars on his forehead... is there some kind of mythic destiny thing going on here?

Given the option, a minority of people will always touch the thing marked 'do not touch'. That's just behavioral wiring. Hackers, especially, are often like this. The idea of using this quantity as a margin of error holds some promise. (Also interesting are the limitations of majority rule in general as a form of reasoning.) But in this case, I'd be disheartened if more people had ignored a harmless poll out of blind faith. So the name is funny, yes, but also slightly ironic. Only slightly, though. It wasn't a write-in campaign. - Spoiler:
Brief Googling has not gotten me closer to parsing any of this particular cryptology employed by Gravity Falls. It's not unusual to (accidentally?) involve one's descendants in one's plans, though? Through scientifically improbable means, even, if that's what your show is about.
