Appearance:

Nathaniel is one of those kids who, at first glance, you can tell is up to something. Not just the mischevious up-to-no-good, like strapping thermite inside someone's school locker: he's got the look of someone really twisted. Malice. Malice is the best word that comes to mind.

He's fairly tall, close to six feet, and he's not built like a bodybuilder, but he's in good shape. He has a buzz cut, blonde hair that's been shaved almost to the scalp. And judging by the rather messy state of it, he did it himself. Likely without a mirror. He has the beginnings of facial hair, a wispy beard that he hasn't found time or is unwilling to shave off. His eyes are a dark shade of brown, and he seems to not blink often.

He's fairly handsome, but more of a passing interest rather than a heartthrob. He normally wears jeans in deteriorating condition, hole-filled and duct taped in places. Hanging from his belt is a large, sheathed knife. He normally has a t-shirt a size too big drooping over him and a sweatshirt a size too big tied around his waist. He has nice, organized teeth from braces or at least some degree of orthodontic care, and a protruded Adam's apple he tends to flex when he's bored.

Personality:

Nate is power-hungry. If he's not the alpha male in any situation, he's trying to claw his way up there. The best grades, the prettiest girl, the most money. It's all superficial, all for show. He throws things away as fast as he gets them: it's just the adrenaline rush of GETTING it that he craves. He's in good enough shape to win fights, and his knife tends to help a bit.

He's...he's an arrogant asshole. There really isn't another way to put it. He's not great at making friends and has little to no empathy, except for when he's intentionally trying to insult someone. He makes offhand comments that are brutal, but he doesn't even grasp the cruelty behind it. He's smart and cunning, but more of a street smarts sense. He can study his ass off if it means getting to the top spot in class, however.

As far as Pokemon go, they're more amiable. He still views them as tools at his disposal, but he has a bit more feeling for them. He had a few growing up and took pretty good care of them, although he fucking hated the Magikarp his dad kept in an aquarium.

Does he have morals? Yes. They're usually overriden by his desire to be the best, however. It's not healthy. He's a bit of chauvinist, but he does have some sense of honor. He isn't one to take advantage of woman or kick someone while they're down, as long as it doesn't make him look "soft" in front of everyone, he'll usually discreetly help someone out if they need it: on the condition they tell no ONE. He's top dog, not Santa Claus.

Pokemon: Absol.

History:

Nathaniel grew up in wealth. He never entirely knew what his parents did, but worked together most of the pieces. They provided useful things like Poke balls and other equipment to the various crime gangs. They ran a legitimate factory operation, but shipped so much of it off to the schmuks of the world that it grew into more of a black market than an ything.

Still, he was born with money, and always having money. His parents were decent people, and always cared for him, but the single-child attention tended to make him a bit spoiled. Until younger sister rolled around....when the baby started getting the focus, he began his little power complex. Pretty soon, that developed into more of an Oedipus complex, and not only was he driven to win all of his parents' attention, he wanted to make himself greater than them.

He threw fits, he broke things: it didn't do anything. He wisened up. He started bringing home 100s. He started winning track at school, sabotaging his sister's efforts at everything. His malice was not without cunning, and his parents never suspected anything.

He's been itching to get his hands on a Pokemon of his own, namely to truly dominate. Alone, he couldn't beat something that could freeze him in place like a Ralts or scorch him into cinders like an Arkanine. But with a Pokemon...

Pft. So Parasect has some shrooms. Flygon is twice the Hipster parasect will ever be. But everyone knows Celebi is the biggest Hipster of them all.

If I might throw in my two cents to this debate, I dont know what the qualifications for hipster-ness are, but I do know that I have always thought that Weavile was really cool. And as far as bad-assery goes, I am a slightly better judge, and so I feel confident saying that while Absol is indeed badass, there are still many above him on the bad-assery scale.

Like Pinsir, just look at him.

But seriously, Pinser is badass. I keep hoping they will give him an evolution, and then they dont. Kind of the same way I keep waiting for Snorlax to evolve, and for them to finally stop teasing us and just release Mime Sr.

If I might open a seperate debate, does anyone else think it would be interesting, if lazy, if Nintendo released a generation where the only new pokemon were evolutions or pre-evolutions of the pokemon we have now?

Pinsir is indeed Badass. As is Absol and Weavile. But the Penultimate Leader of Badass is Gengar.

Your seperate debate Z... it confuses me. If the pokemon are Dubious or (pre)evolutions then what would be interesting about this?

Whats happening is that we are rating pokemons badassery in one debate and I've posed a question to the thread in the other.

And I reject your assertion of Gengar as the penultimate badass. He is indeed among the greatest badasses, but I think that the Penultimate placement has to go to Charizard, census-proven to be the second best known pokemon after Pikachu.

I think it would be interesting because we could see some awesome new pokemon, and they could drastically expand the pokedex, without having to keep going on the downward spiral they have been on, getting less and less creative with every generation.

The baddest of asses is obviously Ditto.
