((I'm just gonna say that she wanders over to the deli. For my own sake. Lolz))

She didn't know how long she wandered. Tess was stuck in her little fantasy, letting the falling paper fliers turn back into snowflakes. She couldn't help but smile as she imagined how they would feel if they landed on her face; cold and light.

She must have closed her eyes for a minute or two, because when she opened them she had no idea where she was.

Then a loud yell pierced her thoughts, instantly shattering her surroundings. The snowflakes fragmented and scattered, and the snow that had piled into little heaps on top of the grass sent bright shards flying into the air. She had gotten used to this, by now, the shattering effect that her illusions had when they were destroyed. And it could happen by her will or without it.

Somehow she had reached a shady section of town. Debilitated buildings were on each side of her, the grass here seemed a bit bleaker than usual, and even the sky had a darker shade. It was as if the sun had decided to specially keep its warmth and light away from this area. Well, explained why the plants weren't doing so great.

She felt...unsure about everything, but her curiosity urged her to find out what the screaming was and who it came from.

Tess walked along the cracked sidewalk, rounding the corner and spotting a strange deli a few feet away from her. And she was close enough to see a figure disappear inside of the building at the exact same time that she had spotted it. Hmm. It'd be interesting to see what was going on...but there were obvious risks of going into a random, abandoned building after hearing someone yell...in a shady section of town. But, of course, Tess was mentally prepared. Within seconds the air around her rippled and a partially see-through figure broke away from her body. It solidified and was revealed to be an exact copy of her, clothes and hair and all. The two looked at each other and seemed to share some kind of unspoken thought and command. Her copy nodded and went trotting ahead, going towards the building, while the real Tess stayed behind on the street corner, watching.

Fake Tess pressed herself against the wall and inched forward, keeping an eye on the visible figure ((Victor)) while trying not to run ahead.

-------M E A N W H I L E-------

God only knew how long it had taken her to find her way out of the labyrinthine tunnel-system. Funny, how it had all started as a single-roomed basement, but within a few years there were enough tunnels with connected rooms and areas to turn it into an underground, maximum-security prison.

A prison that she was escaping. Her prison.

He had kept her locked away in the tunnels for years, but now she was finally getting away. Freedom.

Lenore, nearly out of breath, finally found the metal door that led to the entrance staircase. By now she was far enough away that his cries had ceased, along with his taunting and jeering. All of it, gone. It was deathly quiet, all except for her pained breaths. She forced the door open and trotted up the stairs, spilling into the main house. Normal-looking interior, with couches and lamps and tables and a few rooms on the second floor.

She never was able to come up here, much, besides those first few years.

Wanting to be away from it all as soon as possible she wasted no time running to the front door, yanking it open, and just getting out.

But she didn't stop there, no. Lenore was outside and finally out of the prison, but she didn't feel that she was far away enough. Despite the warm summer weather she buttoned up her pea coat and checked her slip-ons before breaking out into a full sprint. Where? She had no idea. She just wanted to keep running.

Oh dear. Did she just say that? Wally chuckled.

"Oh, my dear lady, I don't merely fly, I soar. I fly fast, I fly accurately, I fly gracefully. Do you care for a demonstration?"

He got up, started doing loops in the air in front of Lexy, smiling wildly.

Lash suddenly took one look over her shoulder and said to Alex "I gotta go" Within' a second she was turned around and walked away from Alex. But she stopped a second and rolled her eyes up into her head saying to him "Oh yeah, my name is Lash, real name ain't important. Oh yeah it's very nice knowing that there's not another knuckle headed asshole or uptight bitch in this town" She pauses for a brief moment, standing completely still and silent and then continues her walk.

The reason why she left wasn't that she didn't like Alex, she just wanted to get home and prepare for the big party.

------------

It was possible that it was just another super human playing a trick on him for breaking into a deli. People enjoyed terrorizing Victor for his cowardly behavior. Even though he would love to find out the bollocks responsible, self safety would be easier. He balled his fists up and slowly made his way out of the Deli kitchen and went back to the deli stand. Instead of simply walking around the large deli counter, he decided to take the quicker route. He puts his foot on the counter then something rather unexpected occurs... apparently the counter was a lot older than it looked and the weight of Victor on top of it caused the top area to collapse, making him fall back towards the door he just left through and giving him a lot of dust to coat his white and red attire. The sound caused by this was simply the usual sound of wood breaking with a loud thump. And did I mention that he yelled again like a baby.
"God, dammit. I'm jus' tendin' to me self, which git would get off messin' with me." He quietly said to himself trying to keep himself calm and collected as possible. Getting on his knees and off the ground he starts dusting himself off from all the dirt.

PostSubject: Re: Another Crack in the Sidewalk   Another Crack in the Sidewalk - Page 2 I_icon_minitimeSun 03 Jun 2012, 11:36 am

Alex paused. Well, it saved him the issue of doing a reading. As Lash walked away he sensed...irritation. Confusion. Anxiety? She was worried about something and irritated about something else. Alex could've figured out a bit more if she wasn't leaving, and if he had time and energy, but alas, those two things are always in short supply.

Turning and walking towards his home, Alex let his mind wander. Between me and you, it's rather easy to daydream when one is blind, and the rhythmic swoops of his cane kept him from running into someone or, say, drifting off into the road and getting splattered. He vaguely sensed auras and presences, breaking out of his fantasies when he was at his own house.

Now to try and crack the problem with these stupid cards. It had been gnawing at him, digging at him. There was something there he just couldn't figure out.

---

Something broke inside the deli. Noise, loud. Reminded him of times long past. Good times. The casinoes, prison, the wanderment. No, now, more people were showing up. Boy's supernatural, must be, otherwise the writin' on the wall should've scared him. Would've fucked with any normal Christian, at least. He wasn't too faithful a person, but he knew the right signs to terrify the truly faithful. Yeah, read up on the prophets and the End-Times, start mimicking the Horsey-men and the apocalypse, people stop sniffing around in your business. No, I'll slink off for now, let the boy be. Should know better than to go to the edge of town alone, even if he does have powers. That's the problem. Everyone thinks they can set the sun alight or break bones with their mind, they have nothing fear. But even the man that can kill with his mind can't do nothing when he's asleep or hammered drunk or just not paying attention. So run along, kiddy. Play your games and practice with your special tricks. Remember there are bigger dogs out there, and you'd best let sleeping ones lie.

Another loud noise, but this time it wasn't a yell or a scream. It sounded more like a crash...something wooden had broken inside of the deli. With a volume like that, it couldn't have just collapsed on its own, either. Perhaps the figure that had been seen sneaking into the building caused the crash. It made a lot of sense.

Fake Tess was still pressed up against the wall, while the Real Tess still watched from the corner. Taking a quick glance around the sidewalk she slipped through the deli door (which was already ajar) and made her way into the main area. There was dust on nearly every surface, cobwebs covered numerous cervices and shelves, and she was pretty sure that she could see a few mice scurry along the floor. The place must have been out of business for a while.

The noise. It came from deeper into the deli. The kitchen, perhaps. Fake Tess took careful steps as she made her way past a few tables and broken chairs. Peeping through another door, Fake Tess spotted a guy (Victor) dusting himself off near the broken counter. Well, the little sneak was found. It made sense to go back and tell Tess of her discovery, but Fake Tess was curious as to why the boy was even here.

"Hello?" She called, gripping the entryway with strong fingers.

Fear and shock took Victor over for a minute as his hand, then his hand started pulsing a bright green as he pointed his hand at the source. He jumped up and to his surprise saw some tom boy. He rolled his eyes up into his head then lowered his hand slowly. It was still glowing ready for some action just in case she was the cause of the noise and the scary writing. He uses the opposite hand to scratch the back of his neck and then he says "Howya, lass. Name's Vict-ta" he looks around and his head wanders aimlessly and then he says in a apologetic tone "Sorry 'bout breakin' in te' ya' deli..."

Oh man, that accent sure was thick. Even so, she was able to pick up on his name; Victor. Fake Tess looked in subtle surprise at his glowing hand as it was pointed at her. He was aimed and ready to fight, it seemed.

"Nice trick you got there, Victor."

"And this isn't my deli."

The second voice came from beyond the Tess that was in front of Victor. In fact, it was the same exact voice, but came from somewhere behind the two of them. Mere seconds later, Fake Tess' figure fragmented, each piece showing a different part of her, much like a broken mirror. The effect made a sharp, cracking noise, and bright purple shards went shooting off into different directions, eventually disintegrating into nothingness. The actual Tess came walking forward, an eyebrow raised as she looked over this new stranger. "I don't own this place. I just decided to, you know, tail you a bit when I saw you walking in. Name's Tess." With that short introduction she held out a hand, inciting a hand shake.

"What exactly are you doing in here, anyway?"

"Well Lass, I could'a be askin' ya' why ya' tailin' me-self, but I won't be actin' like some gurrier. I came in dis' manky place to get sum practicin' in. Is dere a prob-lim, lass?" Victor says to Tess as he climbs over the broken deli counter. Once he was practically a few inches away from her he extends his glowing hand to except her handshake and the second they made contact his hand stopped glowing. He smiles at her and says in a impressed tone "Dat's a nice power ya' got dere, Lass. Clonin' is mighty deadly alright, don't ya got more powers?"

He let his guard down a bit. He felt if the girl was out to harass him some more she would have done much worse than make noise then use ink on him. Either way he has a few tricks up his sleeve that can put him on even odds with the girl in case she wants a battle or to scare him some more

"Practicing, huh?"

Tess was able to force a small smile onto her face. She wasn't exactly the friendly type, which could be apparent, and was never quick to trust, but the guy seemed friendly enough so there wasn't any immediate threat. Well, besides the fact that they were standing in an abandoned deli that could be crawling with tons of little critters. "You're not so bad, yourself. And sure, I have a few more, but I don't plan on showing off anytime soon."

This was true. Tess hated show-offs, and she hated bragging, which is why she never did such a thing. Giving him a tilted glance she said, "Hang on a sec. I need to check something." Tess raised her hands and made a movement towards him; a forceful one, as if she were pushing an imaginary cardboard box filled with rocks. She repeated this a few times before she stopped, seemingly satisfied with whatever result she had gotten. "Nope, you're real. If you were one of my hallucinations, you would have shattered by now. Then again, I can't be sure. I could be going crazy. Anyway, what exactly is that?"

Tess made a gesture with her finger at Victor's hand, which had stopped glowing. "The little glowing trick-thing. That." She was speaking with a tone that seemed to say that she had been down this road before. She was only mildly impressed, and the conversation seemed a lot more casual than it probably should have been.

"It be a bit more complicated den dat, Lass." Victor said while trying to fully explain his powers to Tess.
He was a bit freaked by the 'my hallucinations' part and gave him a good reason to have his guard up. Just in to make it seem like he's showing her a demonstration his hand starts pulsing a bright green again. He laughs and says to her "Well, Lass. I can use kinetic ena-gee to make con-stract-ons come outta' me body." Suddenly a small glowing knife springs from his glowing hand. He raised it up in the air and then brings it down to Tess's face. "That's mighty deadly, eh?"

Another Crack in the Sidewalk - Page 2 Empty
PostSubject: Re: Another Crack in the Sidewalk   Another Crack in the Sidewalk - Page 2 I_icon_minitimeSun 03 Jun 2012, 7:27 pm

Skyler strolled through the trees, hands shoved deep in the pockets of one of her more worn-down jeans. The pocket of her black sweatshirt bulged with the imprint of her phone. She’d gotten out of school as soon as the bell had rung, stopped at home to drop off everything but her phone, and then took off again. A quick “Hello” to her mom was the only contact she’d had with her family since that morning. She just couldn’t stomach it sometimes…

Sure, they smiled when she came in, talked amiably enough to her… but she wasn’t blind. She saw the brief moments where her mother’s defenses fell and she stared despondently at her daughter that would never be truly normal, her daughter that would never be allowed real freedom due to the puppet master living inside her skull. Her dad, well, he just focused on his work. Willow was nice enough, she was still young enough that she thought her big sister’s obsidian eyes were cool and the glowing lines on her limbs were special and unique.

Hear that, Rex, my sister thinks you’re cool. She’ll change though… they all do.

Lost as she was in her painful labyrinth of thought, Skyler barely registered the fact that she’d reached deeper part of the forest. She’d gone walking out here plenty of times; there was even an old walking trail a bit closer to the town. Most people didn’t use it though, so she liked to think of it as her secret place. It was somewhere she could go to get away from it all. Her gloomy eyes rose as a twig snapped beneath her tennis shoe. Shocked out of her inner thoughts, she scrutinized her surroundings.

Huh, don’t think I’ve been in this particular area before.

A gurgling creek meandered through the forest, delayed only by rounded boulders resting in its path. There was a drop-off between her and the creek's shore, its bottom filled with shattered tree branches and exposed rocks. There’d been a storm a while back, seems some lightning had hit a tree.

Ground probably isn’t too stable near it, I should probably just walk away. That’s what Rex would want…

But a flickering spark of rebellion had been born. She had put up with Rex’s management the entire school year and, to be honest, she was kinda sick of it. A part of her wanted to jump over that little cliff and scamper across the creek, maybe even explore the lesser known parts of the woodlands. Her foot rose from the bed of fallen leaves. Her eyes were locked on the creek, a slow smile coming to life on her face. Then it hit.

It was as if someone had melted down steel and poured it through every vein in her body just for the pleasure of watching her burn from the inside out. A dull thunk sounded as her body plummeted to the earth. Her spine bent backwards as a hoarse scream burst from her lips, black eyes open as wide as they could go. She was dying. Rex had finally gone too far, it had finally killed her. Her scream ended, but her lips didn’t close; she curled inward and clutched her knees with an iron grip. Her night-black eyes were pressed shut, tears trailing down her cheeks as shudder after shudder racked her body. The waves of pain almost had a pattern to them; occasionally they’d become weaker and give her a chance for a brief respite, but then they’d come roaring back with ten times the strength they’d had before.

“Re- Rex! Alright, I get it! I get it; I won’t go near the- AHHH!”

Her plea was cut off as Rex, apparently not satisfied with her begging, silenced her with a fresh torrent of pain coupled with a mind-splitting headache. The world spun erratically around her, like it was an angry bull trying desperately to buck her off. After what felt like decades, but was in reality only another minute, Rex grew tired of punishing its host and withdrew back into its hideaway in Skyler’s brain.

She just laid there for a while; body damp with sweat and tears, mud on her clothes, and leaves in her hair. Tentatively her eyes creaked open. With a shaky breath, Skyler pressed her hands into the ground and pushed herself to her feet. Still trembling from the earlier onslaught, she dug the leaves out of her hair and inspected her now-dirty clothes. Damnit, just look at them; mud smeared all over her! Her mom would ask what had happened as soon as she got home tonight. That would certainly be an uncomfortable discussion…

“Rex, you are so very lucky that I can’t kill you, you vindictive little bastard.”

Skyler glanced back over at the murky water flowing through the forest. It was the cause for this recent attack and some part of her wished she could control trees or something and obliterate it. But no, the only power she had was a paranoid, overprotective little monster living inside her head! With a quick wipe of her hand to get rid of the tears still falling down her cheeks, she staggered back towards Bank Creek.

Her heart was still beating a war song against her chest as she stumbled along. Finally she came back out onto one of the less-used roads and came to a stop at the curb. She slumped to the ground and sat there with her arms wrapped around herself, waiting for her heart to realize that she was not about to die and slow down to a normal pace. Occasionally a tremor would shake her body, but thankfully it wasn't Rex's doing, it was just her slowly recovering from its chastising.

((There's Skyler's intro, hope it wasn't too melodramatic or anything...))

"Huh. So you're kinda like the...Green Lantern or something. Pretty cool."

Tess inspected the glowing knife from all angles. It looked pretty sharp and deadly, alright, and probably could sever an arm without much effort. She could imagine knives, too, if she wanted, but they wouldn't be able to do anything. Imaginary weaponry had never been really involved in her life unless she was off playing Castle or something involving slaying dragons.

Looking at her hand, she was able to conjure up the form of a sword, only to let it shatter to pieces seconds after. "Not so useful. I can make people see things. Well, things that I want them to see. Hallucinations, or illusions if that sounds nicer. It tends to work great for distractions and messing with people's minds. Occasionally I can make a force-field or two, but that takes a lot of energy."

Tess continued to stare at her hand, moving her fingers a bit, her mind drifting off into space, but she pulled herself out of it just before she was sucked into another void. Looking up at Victor she suddenly said "So, what was that scream about? I kinda heard it from around the corner."

"So ya' use dere own minds against em', nice."

In the middle of this statement the thought came to Victor, clearly this girl was the one responsible for what ever happened in that kitchen and the noise. As much as he wanted to send her flying with one touch, all he'd be truly doing is feeding into her, giving her what she wants. So he thought that he'd act like she had nothing to do with his cowardly yelling. Suddenly his knife evaporates into thin air so he quietly inserts "Ya, lass. Da, thing about me powers is dat I need more and more kinetic ena-gee to keep em' goin'. I can make a much bigger sword dan dis."
He puts his fist to his mouth and coughing quietly saying "By da way, the reason why I yelled is dat a rat jumped on me."

Lexy giggled as Wally did a mixture of... what could it be called? Air acrobatics, maybe? Sounded good to her.

"You really like to use your power, don't ya?"

Lexy continued watching him for a few moments before a thought truck her mind. Wally didn't talk to her very often, so why now? He had to be talking to her for some reason.

"So, what's happening? I know normally we don't talk very much, so what did you want to tell me about?" Lexy questioned, though she was still smiling. She always seemed to have a smile carved into her face. 'Probably form her optimistic attitude, but who knows?

Tess couldn't help but raise her left eyebrow slightly, crossing her arms as she leaned against the door. "A rat, huh?"

It was obvious that she wasn't buying that load of crap. Something else had gone on, something just before she came in, and she wanted to know what it was but had a feeling that Victor wouldn't openly tell her. After a brief silence, she commented "Must've been a pretty big rat to spook you like that."

Topic change time. There was no use pursuing something that he wouldn't talk about.

"So, you came here to practice your powers? For the hell of it?"

She'd had enough practice when she was young, always lost in some made-up place, ignoring her parents or the boring chores of the real world.

((I should note that Victor blew the door down to get in, lul))

"Ye, Lass. Practice makes perfect." Victor states with a small hint of ego. As much as he wanted to brag about how much of a power house he can be, he didn't want to alienate her or come off as that guy. He crosses his arms as well and then follows up his last statement with another hint of ego "Yah, lass. If I didn't stick to practicin' me-self I never would'a... unlocked me hidden potential. If ye get it."

"Uh-huh."

Tess couldn't help but sound increasingly uninterested, because that was the way she felt. No one in town seemed to really care about kids with super-powers; it wasn't a huge thing to people, therefore not something to really be kept a secret. To Tess, the lack of secrecy took away from the uniqueness of the powers, themselves. So she couldn't feel too impressed, about her own abilities or anyone else's.

Unfolding her arms, she felt the crumpling of paper in her shirt pocket and suddenly remembered the flier. Hmm. Those things had been polluting the skies, so nearly every individual at school must have one by now. She took it out of her pocket, unfolding it. "Hey, did you get one of these things?" Tess held it up for Victor to see, "About that party coming up? From that guy that was flying around."

She was curious, that was all. And frankly, she wanted to get an idea of just what kind of people were going.

Victor could see that the girl was getting uninterested, perhaps she was that type that didn't care about powers. The best thing to do now is to end the conversation and move on. But Tess flashed a invitation in his face about the same party that he was going to. It wouldn't tell her a bit about the VIP invitation he received earlier today.

"Well, ye' see lass. Dat boyo' Wally personally came N' gave me N' me friend Lash V-I-P invites to that, I ain't no fib'a. I have no clue wha' dat means"

He didn't want to sound like was bragging more like explaining that he got a better invitation and she didn't.
But he couldn't help but follow up the last statement with "Pretty deadly, eh?"

XII. The Hanged Man. Sacrifice, suffering, trials. Something was coming that would require great endurance. But for whom?

XVIII. The Moon. The ethereal....illusions and dreams. Alex wasn't entirely sure to make of this. Ambiguity...was he to know that deception and trickery were coming, or that he was being told to pay close attention to his dreams?

XX. Judgment. So a conflict was approaching, one of incredible destruction and importance. The Hanged Man....things were beginning to a bit more sense now. If only a bit.

XIII. Death. Cycles and change. Things were going to change-perhaps before or after the conflicts that were ahead. The future was certainly not looking bright today, Alex mused. He wasn't feeling the psychic energy, anymore, so he looked at the cards for a moment more before tucking them inside his jacket. He was sitting on the sidewalk, about halfway to his house. He could stand the urge to scry no longer, and thankfully he had been alone. Nothing was more irritating than attempting to gaze into the future with other people around. Always asking questions he couldn't answer, for him to look into their future or answer questions. He never knew anything concrete, and even what he found from the future just then could have been predicted by anyone. But sometimes he was blessed with less vague predictions, and with the right knowledge about those he knew, he sometimes had premonitions that made sense without hindsight.

Even to a blind boy, hindsight was easy. How often did prophecies make sense after they came to pass. Although, he laughed, that was a very bad mistake to make.

Oh, dear, in his demonstration, Wally had completely forgotten what he was to do. His initial disgruntlement with the fact that Lexy didn't necessarily know him that well (which was a shame, considering that she was a beautiful young lady and he was a beautiful young man, and that made for an excellent gene pool) was replaced with his excitement for his big event again.

"Ah, yes, I had forgotten," he mused, turning around mid air, his head hanging as he floated lazily towards her, head mere inches from her face. His floating was a bit haphazard, the acrobatics had made him dizzy. "You see, I happen to have, for you, this very special invitation to a very special gathering we're having tomorrow night. It's quite optional to not come, of course, but we would be very, very happy if you were to join us."

He smiled. "Your beauty would certainly brighten up the evening."

With that, he gave her a small peck on the lips, upside-down, before quickly turning up before a reaction could be had.

"With that, I must fly, but please, do join us tomorrow night. Music, dancing, two different levels of it, one more the taste of my sort of person, the other, well, should appeal to the average kid. Toodles!"

He flew straight up into the air, then straight forward to the northeast, suppressing a grin. No bugs in his teeth.

It was only a few minutes flight when he noticed the girl on the corner. ((that would be Skyler))

Now, he had no extra invitations, but for some odd reason, his heart went out to this young lady. He was no fan of girls in peril, and as the flying boy, he had to save the day, undoubtedly.

Well, not so much save the day as offer a shoulder to cry on and an invitation that technically he wasn't supposed to give her.

Regardless, he slowly dropped near her, feet-first, as if he was Jesus coming down from Heaven. He wasn't a big believer in religion, but the allegory seemed appropriate and it made him smile a bit.

"Ummm."

He was unsure where to start. Crying girls where not his forte, although they were his taste.

"Excuse me, are you all right?"

There, that was good. He took a cautious step towards her.

((Okay, let's give it a try.))

John had been relieved as soon as the bell rang for school to end, and he'd have been more so happy if he didn't have to walk home. He was denied access to buses because of a 'little' electrical accident. Do to an electric discharge several lights blew out, the engine was killed, and the bus crashed...all because he wore one pair of wool socks to school during the winter months. Oh well, didn't matter anymore...he was still in a good relationship with all but the bus drivers. Few had a real reason to hate him, because, well, not everyone knew his ability. He's hardly used it due to unwanted attention, John was social, but not an attention hog.

Now he just needed to cross these few streets...wait...what a peculiar scene, a girl bunched up on the side of the road and...that floating guy from school...what was his name? Was it Wadsworth? No...maybe. Walter? Wally? Maybe that was it...Wally...no, maybe it was Willy. John wasn't sure, but Wadsworth sounded good....however the girl he didn't recognize, he couldn't see her face, only the backside of her. Either way he was feeling social at the moment and they were straight ahead.

Approaching the scene he started with a simple and innocent greeting.
"Hello, mam! Hello, Wa..." He started, trailing off before quickly starting up again. "Is there a problem?"

((Correct me if I made any accidental wrong assumptions.))

VIP? Tess couldn't help but initiate a small glare, at that (somewhat snarky) statement. She vaguely remembered this "Wally" kid- he must've been the one that she'd seen flying around, dropping those fliers and interrupting her snowfall. Quite the well-known kid. She had never talked to him, or given him much acknowledgement during her entire time at school. She couldn't help but feel that he was...some kind of a show-off.

It made sense, flying around as much as he did and causing all the girls to swoon.

And this party. If Victor had gotten a VIP invite, what the hell had she gotten? "Yeah. Deadly." She responded, flatly, looking at her own "invitation" before cramming it back into her pocket. It shouldn't have bothered her that he had been personally invited but it did, and only because he was kinda bragging about it. Kinda. "I guess that means you plan on going there?"

Skyler was just sitting, arms still wrapped around herself as she stared fixedly at the street in front of her. Her mind was beginning to wander as she sat there, counting the breaths that passed as her heartbeat finally began to slow. A few tears dripped from her night-black eyes as she remained there, hunched slightly so that her hair, which wasn’t in a ponytail for once, flopped over her face.

Damnit, this was supposed to be a good day… way to go, Rex.

Then a woosh of air wove through the twisting silence and she raised her eyes, pushing her hair out of her face so it wouldn’t obstruct her view. Well, that was new. A boy was softly floating to the ground, arms slightly held out from his hands… a vaguely religious picture, but then she’d kind of stopped with all that stuff. When you were basically a puppet to a creature living in your head it was rather difficult to believe that there was some divine purpose for you. You felt more like a pawn than anything else. Cautiously uncrossing her arms, she nodded, waiting nervously for him to jump back as soon as he met her eyes. Most people did.

“Oh, um, yeah,” she said quietly, hating how her voice trembled, “I’m… I’m alright. Re- my power was just acting up earlier.”

With a brief wince as her still-recovering body protested, she uncurled fully and laid her hands across her lap. Something about this boy was familiar; he seemed to be close to her age, probably went to the same school. He was one of those people that everyone knew, one of those popular kids. She wasn’t.

Wally, that's his name.

“I’m Skyler… Skyler Johnson,” she continued, voice thankfully sounding stronger now, "Thanks for asking... Wally." Then another voice sounded, causing her to jump slightly and turn, placing one hand on the pavement as she did so.

Great, I’ve got an audience now. Now I’ll have twice the freaked out reactions, twice the amount of people seeing me at one of my low points.

"Hello."

She asked a pretty dumb question to Victor. Of course he was going to the damned party, it was one of the only exciting things to happen in this dull town. That was the one thing he liked about Spielerstadt, there was something exciting there going on all the time. Some one was always throwing a party and being a over all gallery. But he can also easily tell that the girl was jealous or something.
But he was thinking something a little different about the girl. He coughs and says to Tess

"Ya, Lass. I ain't gonna' miss dis' for anyting.... maybe ya' would like to join me. Not a date, unless ye' wanna call it dat"

Stated in a suggestive tone, he wanted a response really. Possibly getting with her would be less painful than Lash and her 400 pound self.

Lexy smiled, unfazed by the sudden kiss.  She tilted her head, deep in thought.  A party?  A party?!  She love parties.  Lexy's smile grew.  Parties are so much fun.  Her head automatically swarmed with excited thoughts of what could be there.  Maybe there would be some drinks.  A dart board could get her some free margarita.  That sounded awesome.  She headed home, taking a short cut, giddy with excitement.

While Lexy was walking past the abandoned deli she was so used to seeing in her everyday short-cut, she heard voices coming from the  now smashed in door.  'Strange,' she thought, 'Who would be hanging out in such a dreary little dump?' Silently, Lexy crept up to the door way as she peaked in.  She saw two teenagers that seemed pretty familiar talking.  She probably saw them around school.  Lexy leaned in closer, trying to hear the conversation.  She smiled.  It was so much fun, spying on people.
