| Yeah. Um.. Are there any monster stats in the DMG? At all? Would I have been better off buying a module? | |

| Nope. You'll need a monster manual for monster stats. Dnd has always been like that.
I'd suggest just finding one online though.
So I'd like to get through character generation as fast as we can.

| How do we begin? Like, are we assigning 16-15-14 etc. values to stats, or? | |

| Well I actually have a thing that can do most of the work for us/me. We should probably start where it's important, what kind of character do you want to be? | |

| I'll need to check the party balancing thing. What roles are filled? | |

| Tank, and healer are confirmed things that have been taken. Patches hasn't technically chosen anything, so he can't lay claim to striker like he was kind of going to do. So the party could use DPS or crowd control. If you'd like I can list the classes for each role. | |

| I've got a player's guide. I'm kicking around the idea of a paladin if possible. | |

| That would be a tank is my thing. Party cohesion would suffer, but if you want. | |

| So, which classes ARE DPS/Strikers? Would a wizard count? | |

| No, but they're crowd control. Conversely, sorcerers, which are like wizards, are DPSes. There is a difference, yes. Would you like the class list? | |

| I'm using the core classes and core player's guide. What edition are we doing? | |

| 4e. You're using core, I know all the classes by name.
The party could use a wizard though, if you've like to only books you have.

| Sorcerer would be in player's handbook 2 if you want to go find it. | |

| Sorcerers are a more simple DPS than the warlock.

| Yeah, in the future if I mention a book, know that one can aquire it through the intertubes.
If you're on an iphone/ipod, there's an adobe pdf reader app, you can use to get these books on that. You wanted to play a paladin? There's a class in that book called invoker, is a religious mage, basically.

| There's also a handbook 3 out there of you wish to find it. Most of its classes are excessively complicated for someone new though.
So patches beat you to confirming on a DPS. He's the ranger.

| Okay, so we've got a tank and a DPS. Does that mean that a Crowd Control would work? | |

| Yes, yes it would. Any class listed as a Controller is that job.
Wizard Invoker (Religious wizard) Druid
Are the three easiest CC classes.
